Hundreds of riders united in Jacksonville for a ride rooted in remembrance at the 6th Annual Seven Bridges POW/MIA Remembrance Day Ride & Ceremony.

Hosted by the American Legion Riders Department of Florida, the police-escorted ride began at Adamec Harley-Davidson on Baymeadows Road before taking riders across Jacksonville’s Seven Bridges and the St. Johns River. The nearly 100-mile route ultimately led to the National POW/MIA Memorial at Cecil Field.

But this ride was about far more than the miles.

Held in recognition of National POW/MIA Recognition Day, the annual event honors American service members who were held as prisoners of war and returned home, as well as those who remain missing in action.

After arriving at the memorial, riders joined veterans, families and members of the community for the POW/MIA Recognition Day ceremony. This year’s larger remembrance weekend also included a 24-hour POW/MIA vigil, a flyover, live entertainment and opportunities for the community to learn more about the stories and sacrifices behind the POW/MIA mission.

The Seven Bridges Ride has continued to grow since its inception, bringing the motorcycle and veteran communities together around a simple but important commitment: remembering those who came home — and those who still haven’t.
